Many years ago a friend of mine passed away from a brain tumor.  At his funeral they read a poem about life's journey - birth is a beginning, life is a journey, death a destination. I started a series of about 26 pieces with Birth is a Beginning, with family, mother or father, and child paintings.  I then painted Death is a Destination, but I've vowed never to paint with the intent of causing sadness.  So I painted the angels (see in the Angels link) dedicated to people who have died and left us with words of wisdom.  Those words live on in the paintings as they are viewed by and passed down for new people to see and learn.
